CEUs = Continuing education units and are required to maintain your license to practice once you graduate.
1. You can get them online, in-person, through other clinics/hospital, and through your place of employment
2. Each state has different requirements for the “type” of CEUs required to maintain your license (ex. you may have to take an ethics CEU or a HIPAA CEU, etc) so always check there first!
3. Certifications (CBIS, NDT, etc) you obtain have their own CEU requirements for you to maintain it (in addition to state requirements)
4. They don’t tell you this in school but CEU’s are expensive as HECK and it adds up over time! Sometimes a single 4 CEU course will cost $300!
My OT license in TX renews every 2 years so I’ve been using a combination on online certifications and @medbridge_ to get those CEU’s without breaking the bank! (They are the ones I took the aquatic therapy and casting course with 🎊)
