New Grad Check List

Taking a step into the real world after grad school can look hecka intimidating BUT it's totally doable and simpler than you think (why we always gotta make it hard on ourselves?!)

Passing your boards is the open door leading to getting your state license and, ultimately, a job. HOWEVER, even if you are still waiting on your scores, you can apply to jobs and have those interviews - just let your potential employer know that you are awaiting scores.

In those cases, you can be hired "contingent" on passing boards, OR some places will let you start working on a temp license (that's a story for another day).

I'll be honest with y'all; the hiring process is LONG. I interviewed for my first job in November and started on my first day in February of the following year - there's a lot of paperwork that goes on behind the scenes, so know that even when you are offered a job, it may not be a flick of a switch to start working.

BUT one thing you should ALWAYS have ready and up to date is your resume and references for the jobs you are applying to. I had my final draft done about a month before 1 finished my OT program, which made it so much smoother when applying to jobs because everything was DONE.

So start early and be less stressed :)
